If you ever wanted to know what Mars would look like if humans had colonized it, come to Dubai! Actually, it is more like a post-apocalyptic redevelopment of a megatropolis! It's quite a feat to make Vegas seem like a small-time development project, but Dubai has done that. In one day, you can go skiing, sit on a gorgeous beach with turqoise water, and drive a buggy around an Arabian Desert. We did it in two!
The master plan for Dubai looks very different from the city that exists today. Right now, it is one large construction site with, what we estimate, 15% completion. Roads have been built where there are no buildings yet, with signs that direct you to places that don't yet exist. Beyond the radical placement of this city in the middle of the desert, is the largest cuture clash we have seen. Every aspect of the Western world mingles with the highly contrasting culture of the Middle East...burkas and Dior! That brings us to our next point, the bling factor! The Arabs take bigger and better to the whole next level! Case in point - the tallest building in the world, the Burj Dubai. The beauty and engineering of this building totally blows our mind.
