Our last big activity in New Zealand was taking a 2 day overnight cruise on the Doubtful Sound. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate so we experienced what we heard was very typical Fiordland weather - WET. What happens is the winds come off the Tasman Sea, hit the Southern Alps and dump all the water on the west coast. If we had a dollar for every time we heard that story...
It was still nice to see the Doubtful Sound amongst the hovering clouds and cruise through the calm waters. Greg finally got to see the dolphins he waited 4 weeks for (and some more seals).
Our cozy cabin...
Looking back, we can confidently say New Zealand has the most spectacular landscape on this planet. It's prehistoric character is totally unique due to the fact that it is the youngest formed land on earth. We both agree that some of our favorite moments were the drives. It was amazing to see the landscape change before our eyes. It was the perfect place to start our journey. After 4 1/2 weeks we experienced more than we ever expected and have no regrets. Because of this we felt ready to move on, we always say leave when the party is good.
Watch how you go...
