Incredible Rajasthan!

After 3 weeks in India, we feel like we finally arrived! Rajasthan, the land of the Maharaja, is a desert landscape filled with hilltop forts and palaces the size of cities. What we have seen in the past week is what we always imagined India to be.

Our first stop was Udaipur, home to the famous Lake Palace. We loved the vibe of the city but the best part was meeting up with Jordan's parents Stephen and Laurie. It was really nice to see familiar faces and get some parental love. Our favorite moment was when were walking down the crazy cow-filled streets one morning and the next thing we see is Stephen greeting us from the window of his car!

Lake Palace...

City Palace...
Boat ride with the Vogels...
Hippies on elephants...
View from Monsoon Palace...
This country is in a constant haze due to all the dust...
We drove 2.5 hours north of Udaipur to Kumbalgargh. This is what we had been waiting so long to see...a palace fort on top of a hill. Kumbalgargh fort has a 36km wall (which resembles the Great Wall of China) surrounding 360 temples and an enormous palace complex. Truly inconceivable how this was built in the 15th century.
Our first camel sighting in India...
Our next stop, Ranakpur, is home to this incredible marble Jain temple. There are 1444 columns and no two are the same...

After all we have seen in the past week, we are starting to really feel the magnitude of this trip. Thinking back on what we have seen already, we can't imagine what 8 months is going to feel like. Before we left New York, people asked "Did it hit you yet?" Well it just did!

Watch how you go,

Ian and Greg
